Services for Bennie Lou Bailey will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Midway Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr officiating. Interment will follow at the Troy Cemetery.

Bennie was born January 19, 1938 in Galveston, TX to the late Homer & Effie (Hulen) Ledbetter. She died Thursday, January 26, 2017 in Norman, at the age of 79 years and 7 days. Bennie and Bruce William Bailey were married on October 24, 1954 in Ft Worth, TX.

Bennie grew up in Polly, TX, where she attended school. Following her marriage to Bruce, they made their home in Forest Hill, TX for six years, prior to moving to Davis. From Davis the young couple moved to California for several years before moving to Ft Collins, CO, where they owned and operated a restaurant. In 1983, she and Bruce moved from Colorado to South Dakota briefly before moving to Sulphur in 1984. Bennie was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, caring for others and spoiling her dog, Freckles. Bennie was a member of the Midway Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband Bruce; three sons, Bruce Bailey, Jr and wife Val of Reagan, Benny Bailey & wife Jeanie of Seiling and Gary Derschon & wife Lynda of Ft Collins, CO; one daughter, Sharon Young & husband T.J. of Azle, TX; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Linda Weatherly and LaNell Bailey both of Sulphur and Helen Derschon of Ft Collins, CO; one brother Nicky Ledbetter of Mill Creek; as well as many nieces and nephews.
