Dorothy Lee (Beck) Hefley

Dorothy was born October 13, 1937 in Graham, OK to the late Sam W. and Cloa Lee (Blackwell) Beck. She died Monday, January 23, 2017 in Davis, at the age of 79 years, 3 months & 10 days. Dorothy and Jerry Don Hefley were married on June 28, 2005 in Davis.

Dorothy grew up in the Woodland/Davis area. She was the valedictorian of the 1955 class of Davis High School. Following high school she attended college and majored in Education. Dorothy spent several years teaching school and working as an accountant in Quinlan, TX, prior to returning to Davis in 2005. While living in Quinlan, she was very active with the Eastern Star, holding numerous offices throughout the club. Dorothy also served as the secretary/treasurer of the Woodland School Alumni Assoc. for several years. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, watching girls’ basketball and simply being with Jerry Don. Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Davis.

Survivors include her husband Jerry Don; son, Tod Edge of Lewisville, TX; daughter, Terri Pierce of Lewisville, TX; step-son, Bobby Del Hefley of Davis; step-daughter, Jeana Smith & husband Justin of Davis; 5 grandchildren, Makenna Edge, Ashton and Dalton Ingram, and Hunter and Fisher Smith; two nieces, Judy Moore & husband Allen and Rita Bagley & husband Clark; as well as three nephews, Sammy Beck of Blanchard, Ralph Beck, Jr of Dougherty and Lynn Beck of Oklahoma City.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Atwood; and one brother, Ralph Beck.

Serving as pallbearers were Stan Hefley, Darrell Hefley, Bobby Del Hefley, Justin Smith, Patrick Hefley, Paul Busby, Ralph Beck, Jr and Sammy Beck.
