Funeral services for Joyce Marie McBroom will be held 10:00AM, Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Crossway First Baptist Church in Sulphur with Pastor Bill Leveridge officiating. Interment followed at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.

Joyce was born April 19, 1932 in Virgil, OK to the late Arthur H. & Ella Marie (Kunz) McGaugh. She died Tuesday, February 21, 2017 in Pauls Valley, at the age of 84. Joyce and Val Gene McBroom were married on December 10, 1954 in Oklahoma City. He preceded her in death 1997.

Joyce was a 1950 graduate of Sulphur High School. Following graduation, she worked as an operator for Frank and Jesse Crawford at the Sulphur telephone exchange. She later moved to Oklahoma City where she worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell. After she and Val married they moved to Washington DC. From there they lived in several places including Belfort, ND, Windowrock, AZ, Gallup, NM and Albuquerque, NM. In September of 1981, she and Val returned to Sulphur to enjoy their retirement years. Joyce was a member of the Crossway First Baptist Church of Sulphur.

The family wishes to thank Pastor Bill Leveridge and Fob Jones for trusted ministry and counsel as well as Dana Vandever and the staff at The Willows Assisted Living in Pauls Valley and Aspire Hospice for loving care.

Survivors include two nieces, Sandra Hassell and Sharon Hassell Tadlock; as well as one great-niece, Julian Nunnlee, all of Austin, TX.

In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by her son, Arthur Dee McBroom; and two sisters, Gladys McGaugh and Dovie Hassell.
