Funeral services for Albert Curtis Coffey will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, Oct 31, 2014 at the United Methodist Church of Davis with Rev Steve Harshaw officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery.

Albert was born June 10, 1922 in Roff, OK to the late Walter & Clara (Copps) Coffey. He died Sunday, Oct 26, 2014 in Sulphur, at the age of 92 years 4 months and 16 days. Albert and Eva Inez Gilbert were married on Aug 1, 1941 in Las Vegas, NE. She preceded him in death on Jan 9, 2009. Others preceding him in death include one daughter, Anita Sue “Suzie” Evans; grandson, Douglas Bryan Evans; two brothers, Clifford & Harold Coffey; and four sisters, Pearl West, Wanda Crapo, Louise Werda and Barbara Ruth Coffey.
Albert grew up in the Chigley area where he attended school. During the Great Depression, he left this area and moved to Wyoming where he worked with the Civilian Conservation Camps. Later Albert, along with his brother Harold, moved California and together worked for an electric company installing poles and lines.

In July, 1943, Albert was drafted into the US Army. During WWII, he served with General Patton’s 3rd Army 65 Infantry. Major battles he was associated with included the Battle of Bulge, Penetration of Ziegfried Line, the Battle of Bastogne, Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest and the Liberations of Buchenwald Concentration Camp. After being wounded, Albert was honorably discharged on Nov 10, 1945.

After his military service, Albert worked a short while as a truck driver hauling gravel, prior to working as the Division Superintendent for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation at the Davis yard. Albert was a member of the Davis Wolves Booster Club and enjoyed all Davis High School activities; as well as a member of the United Methodist Church of Davis. Prior to the death of his wife and his failing health, he enjoyed travel to Lake Texoma to fish.

Survivors include two sons, Tony Coffey & wife Linda of Choctaw, OK and Bryan Coffey & wife Kathy of Marble Falls, TX; six grandchildren, April McCormick & husband Preston of FT Collins, CO, Kyle Coffey & wife Kira of Philadelphia, PA, Robert Coffey & wife Kayla of Del City, OK, and Caitlin, Taylor and Valerie Coffey, all three of Marble Falls, TX; as well as one great-grandson, Oscar McCormick..

Services are “Entrusted To” HALE’S Funeral Home of Davis, OK.
