Billy Howard Mcneil

August 15, 1942 — September 27, 2020

It is with profound sadness that the family of Billy Howard McNeil announces his passing on Sunday, September 27, 2020. Bill was born on August 15, 1942, to Hank and Vergie McNeil. A celebration of his life will take place 2:00PM, Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at the Hale’s Memorial Chapel in Davis, Oklahoma.

Bill grew up in Hennepin, Oklahoma. During his younger years, Bill was a standout basketball player at Woodland. After high school, Bill attended Murray State and then went on to graduate from The University of Oklahoma. After college, Bill lived a few different places and ultimately moved to and made a home with his children in Davis. After many years of living in Davis, Bill moved to Oklahoma City and later remarried to Dessa Mackey.

Bill had diverse careers over the years, his last being that of a stockbroker; he was an exceptionally smart man. Bill was the kind of man, whose career was important, but family was first-he did not hesitate to go on field trips or school activities involving his grandchildren. From the time he was a young child, Bill was a true gentleman. After retiring, Bill and Dessa moved back “home” to Davis to spend time watching “The Boy” grow up. Bill enjoyed socializing, traveling, working outside with his plants and spending time with “the Friday board members”.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Dessa; daughter, Machele McNeil; son, Sean McNeil; step-daughter, Tabby Mackey; step-son, Brad Mackey and family; brothers, Farrell McNeil and Edd McNeil; granddaughter, Mackey Gammill; and great-grandson, Tye “The Boy” Barnett; as well as a host of family and friends.

Bill was predeceased by his father, Hank McNeil, and mother, Vergie McNeil Watson.

The family would like to personally thank everyone who cared for Bill during his final days.
