Bud Willis went to be with his Savior on October 29, 2022, at the age of 77 years 8 months and 3 days. He was born to McLynn Eugene Willis and Estelle Allen Willis in Madill, OK. He was grandson to Raleigh Brittan Willis and Manuel and Alpha Allen. Bud married Susie Minor and to this union a son, Allen Shawn Willis, was born. In 1967 he married Carole Heidenreich and to this union were born a daughter, Radona Chimene Willis, and a son, Ryan Shane Willis.


Bud is predeceased by his parents and a son, Allen Shawn Willis, and brother-in-law, Willie Woodrow Dowling, 2 infant sisters, Viola and Lynn Willis.

Bud is survived by daughter, Dr. Chimene Willis Fikkert (Dr. Arnold Fikkert) of Ft. Worth, TX; son, Ryan Shane Willis of Los Angeles, CA; Sandra Jean Dowling, sister, of Mobile, AL; Holmes McLynn Willis, brother, of Altus, OK; Beverly Willis Nall (Robert Nall), sister, of Oklahoma City, OK. He is also survived by the following nieces and nephews: Dione Dowling Heusel of Fairhope, AL; Todd McLynn Willis and Kimberly Lynn Willis of Owasso, OK; Trebor Brandon Nall of Edmond, OK; and Christopher Allen Nall of Elkins, AR as well as great nieces, nephews, three great-great nieces and one great-great nephew.


Bud began school in Altus, OK in 1950 and attended school in Kingston, OK; McAllister, OK; Ft. Smith, AK; Norman, OK. He played basketball, baseball, and football. Bud graduated from Altus High School in 1963. He then attended Auctioneers School becoming a licensed auctioneer. Bud was drafted into the Army in 1967 where he served as a combat medic in the air cavalry. He received an honorable discharge after injuries sustained in Vietnam for which he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He completed his service in San Antonio training other soldiers as combat medics. He attended Oklahoma State University 1972-1977 obtaining his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. His career emphasis was as an Equine Practitioner. He practiced in Edmond, OK; Gainesville, TX; and Sulphur, OK. All who knew Bud appreciated his passion for horses and horsemanship. Since 2006, Bud worked as a rep for Superior Livestock Auction. Bud was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Chickasaw Nation.


A memorial service will be held Friday, November 25, 2022, at 10:00 am at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church, Hwy 7 and Shepherd Lane, in Sulphur, OK. A graveside service will follow at Kingston Cemetery in Kingston, OK.


Services are “entrusted to” HALE’S FUNERAL HOME, Sulphur.
