Cheryl Kay Bixler

July 4, 1948 — November 25, 2020

Cheryl Kay (Scaff) Bixler was a Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend to us all. She spent her life with meaning, with purpose, dutifully, in the service of others. A stranger to no one, her heart vastly embracing the world around her. She impactfully touched the lives of so many and will be missed dearly.
Cheryl was born on July 4, 1948 in Oklahoma City, OK to Orvil and Helen (Lutts) Scaff. She unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 21 days.
Cheryl was raised in her hometown of Sulphur, Oklahoma. She attended Washington Elementary and graduated from Sulphur High School in 1966. Her family were members of First Freewill Baptist Church. After high school, she attended Lela’s Beauty College with dreams of being a beautician. Shortly after. she married John D. Parker and moved to Washington D.C. in 1969. Their son, Jon (Eric) Parker was born in 1969 in Anadarko, OK and their daughter Tanya M. Parker was born 1973 in Washington D.C. In 1978, John and Cheryl returned to their hometown of Sulphur. Their second daughter, Christine L. Parker was born in 1979 in Lawton, OK. Back home, she worked numerous jobs including Pick’s Famous Foods, Malouf Sewing Factory, Chickasaw Motor Inn/Tobacco Shop and Exsil, Inc.
While working at Exsil, Inc., she met her beloved husband, Mike Bixler. Mike and Cheryl got married on March 17, 1995 in Gainesville, TX. Adding to the family, two new daughters, Stephanie and Cristina, bringing more love and joy into the family. Cheryl changed careers and began working for Inca Head Start, where she retired in 2013 after many years of working with children. In this chapter of her life, she was graced with many grandchildren and great grandchildren that enhanced her life even more. She was so proud of each and every one of them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orvil Lavon and Icy Helen Scaff, one brother, David Bryan Scaff, her other mother, Gladys Marie Scaff and her grandson James Clifton “Bubba” Sparks, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Bixler, her son Eric Parker and wife, Sharla and daughter Tanya Parker, all of Sulphur, OK, her daughter Christy Colungo and husband Michael of Ada, OK, her daughter Stephanie Brand and husband Gary of Branson, MO and her daughter, Cristina Wier and husband Eddie of Haskell, OK, 20 beautiful grandchildren, 16 amazing great-grandchildren, sister Janis Wiles and husband Tom of Sulphur, OK, brother Von Scaff and wife Saundra of Little Elm, TX, her extended Parker Family and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and tons of friends who deeply miss her.
