Dee Etta Bailey

Funeral services for Mary Dee Etta Bailey will be held 2:00PM, Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Dougherty Baptist Church with Pastor Alan McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in the Dougherty Cemetery.

Dee Etta was born on Jan 29, 1933 in Dougherty, to the late Clyde Walton and Mary Maurice (George) Wallace. She died Monday, April 29, 2013 in Davis, at the age of 80 years and 3 months. Dee Etta and Lawerence Wayne Bailey were married on Jul 2, 1948 in Alvin, TX.

Dee Etta spent the first few years of her life in Dougherty, where she attended elementary school, prior to her family moving to Washington State. They later moved Melrose, NM before making their home in the Houston area. Dee Etta was a very hard working lady who loved to have fun. She was very much the life of the party. She and Lawenerce owned and operated Bailey Brothers Wrecker & Service Center in South Houston for many years. No matter what endeavor either one of them started, they did it together. Dee Etta loved gardening and landscaping. While living in Normangee, TX, they had commercial green houses and truck patch gardens where they raised plants and vegetables and sold to the public and area grocery stores. She was the type of person that could “plant a toothpick and grow a tree”. She and Lawerence always had a beautiful yard that they maintained with hours of daily care.

In their earlier married life, Lawerence hunted and fished all over the world, and Dee Etta was right there by his side, sometimes (often times) out fishing or hunting him. They also hunted arrowheads all over the North America and had a very prestige collection of them. She and Lawerence were avid Black-Jack Players and participated in Invitational Tournaments across the US. Dee Etta was a diehard Willie Nelson fan. She loved listening to his music and attended his concerts as often as she could. She was even fortunate enough to perform live on stage with Willie, until she was politely escorted off stage by his security guards.

Dee Etta will be greatly missed by her family.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 64+ years, Lawerence; one daughter, Kaye (Bailey) Parisi & husband Steve of Wimberley, TX; one son, Larry Bailey, JR & wife Barbara of Corpus Christi, TX; two grandchildren, Corry Bailey and Dory Parisi; two great-grandchildren, Jjiovinni Christopher Bailey and Emily Parisi; sister, Susan May of Huntsville, TX; brother, Bryce Wallace of Baytown, TX; and numerous nieces & nephews, including locally, Judy Hale & husband Glenn “Diddle”, Rhett Hale & wife Becky, Brandy Claxton & husband Keith, Hannah & Tanner Claxton, & John Rheed Hale, all of Dougherty and Bree Roady & husband Justin of Davis.

Dee Etta was preceded in death by her grandparents, R.L. & Mary George; parents; brother, Stanley W. Wallace and sister, Alice M. White of Dougherty.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 PM Friday evening at the funeral home.
