Donald Earl Stehr

Don was born July 31, 1937 in Pennsylvania to the late Earl & Hilda (Knerr) Stehr. He died Thursday, February 22, 2018 in Sulphur, at the age of 80 years 6 months and 21 days. Don and the late Mary Carolyn Bachus were married on August 7, 1959 in Hatboro, PA. Following her death in 2011, Don married Nelda (Sims) Welch in Sulphur on December 19, 2014.
Don grew up in Pennsylvania, graduating from Higgins High School in 1955. Following high school, Don joined the United States Air Force. It was during his service to our country that Don met Mary, while being stationed at Gene Autry. After being discharged from the Air Force, Don spent 40+ years as a truck driver. Most recently, Don worked as a driver for INCA. He and Nelda also spent several years working as volunteers with the Murray County RSVP. In his spare time he enjoyed playing dominos, traveling and visiting with friends at area coffee shops.
Survivors include his wife Nelda; one daughter, Judy Stehr of Davis; three step-children, Susan Downing & husband Walt of Warner Robbins, GA, Mike Welch of Sulphur and Patrick Welch & wife April of Ardmore; four siblings, Albert Stehr, Joan Cimino, Ruth Wittham and Marilyn Casteel all of PA; six grandchildren, Brandon Stehr, Joseph Downing, Jeremy Downing, Ashley Welch, Stacie Welch and Macaela Welch; one adopted grandson, Andrew Wipp; and six great-grandchildren, Cameron, Cheyenne, Chase, Charlee, James and Cooper.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Don was preceded in death by a son, Brian Stehr.
