Funeral services for Donald Ray “Don” McCollum will be held 2:00 P.M, Wednesday, Dec 11, 2013 at the Midway Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
Don was born on May 23, 1940 in County Line, OK to the late Horace V. & Ollie F. (Bramlett) McCollum. He died Saturday, Dec 7, 2013, within the comfort of his daughter’s home in Davis, after a courageous year long battle with Kidney Cancer. Don was 73 years 6 months 14 and days old. Don and Patsy Lee Lane were married on May 3, 1953 in Leveland, TX. She preceded him in death on Dec 18, 1992. Others preceding him in death include a son, Donald Ray McCollum, Jr; two brothers Michael and Bill McCollum; and a grandson, Bryson Dennis.
Don was a very devoted family man. His family was truly his life. He possessed a strong work ethic that started at the age of 9 years old, as he mowed yards and gave his earnings to his mother to help support the family. In his adult married life, Don worked for Koch Oil Co for 12 years before going to work for Halliburton where he worked as a welder. In 1992, he took an early retirement from Halliburton to allow him to be with his passing wife. After her death, he moved on with his life, marrying again, taking on two step-sons, Logan and Lance Seawright. It was during this time that he owned and operated “Towntots Daycare” in Sulphur, where he cared for many children, claiming each as his own.
After closing the daycare, Don spent most of time tinkering with his 1933 Roadster Hotrod. He proudly exhibited his hotrod at area car shows, which led him to join the “High Lifters” Hotrod Club. Don was a member of the Midway Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Deena Williams & husband Gerald of Duncan, Sherry Nelson & husband Craig of Duncan and Melissa Tiger & husband Kevin of Davis; one son, Kerry McCollum & wife Peggy of Wynnewood; ten grandchildren, Mykella Martinez, Taylor Cleveland, Garrett Richburg, Danin Gugino, Drake & Kale Tiger, Derik & Brandon McCollum, Donald Ray McCollum III and Christopher McCollum; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Harry McCollum of California; and two sisters, Sandra Pogue of Seminole and Ann McWaters of Norman.

Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Wagner, Kale Tiger, Drake Tiger, Garrett Richburg, Erik Cleveland and Greg Koch. Honorary bearers will be members of the High Lifters Hotrod Club, Daisy, Lily, Ivy, Sage and Quince Borders.
