Gerald Robert Riddle

Gerald Robert Riddle was born January 31, 1936 in Davis, OK to the late Bobbie B. and Geraldine (Strickland) Riddle. He died Tuesday, March 16, 2021 in Denton, TX, at the age of 85. Gerald married his wife of 64 years, Juanita M. “JR” Riddle on August 25, 1956.

Gerald grew up in Davis, graduating from Davis High School, class of 1954. He later graduated from the University of Oklahoma. His working career was spent with the NASA Space Program.

Gerald will be remembered as a tremendously loving Christian man, who greatly loved his Lord and his family. He had a special way of making each person feel as if they were the most important person in his world.

Gerald most enjoyed the simple acts of being with his wife, JR, and always referred to her as “his treasure.” He did everything with passion, whether it was baking bread and pastries from scratch, making the perfect pot of coffee, studying scripture, fishing, walking in nature or playing with “his greats.”

When he retired from NASA, he authored a trilogy of books featuring Little Red Feather, that were an expansion of stories that he told his children at bedtime. Each chapter ends with “Good night, sweet dreams, and I love you.” Good night, sweet dreams, and we love you more than Texas.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Juanita “JR”; his children, Carrie Berman & husband Dale of Justin, TX, Bobbie Riddle & wife Rhonda of Oakland, CA and G. Todd Riddle & wife Linda of Missouri City, TX; his grandchildren Candace Holden & husband Ryan of Flower Mound, TX, James Berman & wife Pam of Houston, TX, Brandi Goen & husband Ross of Austin, TX, Nathan Berman & wife Ashley of Ponder, TX, Derek Pincus & wife Britney of Houston and Miranda Riddle of Houston; his great-grandchildren, Lexi, Blakely, William, Abigail, Mack, Lily, Cayden, Liam and Kai; as well as his sister, Rosa Charlene Riddle of Denton, TX.

An informal celebration of Gerald’s life will be held 2:30PM, Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis, OK.
