Geraldine Riddle

On the morning of October 15, 2014, Geraldine Riddle quietly and peacefully left this world to be present with her Lord, and to take her place with all the angels and saints at the eternal heavenly banquet. This good and saintly woman was laid to rest next to her husband, Bobbie, October 20, 2014 at the Green Hill Cemetery in beautiful Davis, Oklahoma. Leaving behind “in the waiting room” are a son, Gerald Riddle, a daughter, Charlene Riddle, and a daughter-in-law, Juanita Riddle - when asked of her children, she would always reply; “I have a son and two daughters.” Geraldine also left behind three grandchildren, Carrie Berman and husband Dale of Dallas, Texas, Bobbie Riddle and Ronda Smith of Pinole, California and Todd Riddle and wife Linda of Missouri City, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Candace Holden and husband Ryan, Jim Berman and wife Pam, Nathan Berman and wife Ashley and Brandi Goen and husband Ross; and four great-great-grandchildren, Blakely Goen, Lexi Berman, William and Abigail Berman. Besides her husband Bobbie who passed August 17, 1994, all of her birth family preceded her: father and mother, Charles and Rosa Strickland; three brothers, Raymond, Perman and Graydon Strickland; and, a sister Leta Warren.

Geraldine, Mammaw to her family, was born August 28, 1918 in Davis, Oklahoma. She lived there for over 80 years before uprooting herself and her daughter, driving to Clear Lake, Texas and settling close to her son and daughter-in-law who both worked at the Johnson Space Center. In no time she mastered the busy streets, discovered nearby malls and delightfully incorporated local seafood into her diet. In October 2003, Mammaw moved, along with her daughter, to an assisted living facility in Round Rock, Texas. There, she and Charlene quickly became endeared to all staff who consistently administered care with much love and attention. Although life in Texas was eventful and satisfying, her heart always remained with her first love, Davis.

Mammaw married Bobbie (Pappaw to family) on December 25, 1934; respectively, they were sixteen and twenty years of age. Starting out with little more than a few changes of clothes, they loved, worked and sacrificed together for almost sixty years. Together they actively supported their church, the First Baptist, as well as their community. With food and personal care, bereaved friends and neighbors were always lovingly supported. Throughout their sixty years together, they regularly contributed to the welfare and care of both the city and people of Davis through active participation in charitable and social organizations such as the Salvation Army, Kiwanis and Eastern Star, Shriners and Professional and Business Women’s Organizations.

We close this chapter in our family with much sorrow and emptiness because we no longer have this humble, beautiful human being with us; but, also with joy and gratefulness that we have all been blessed with her presence and unselfish love for these many years. In Mammaw’s final hour, she was thinking of others and their welfare; and, that is how she will be remembered. Mammaw, may God bless you and hold you in His loving arms: a final ending here, a new beginning with Him.

Services were “Entrusted To” HALE’S Funeral Home of Davis, OK.
