Funeral services for Hubert Marshall Parkins were held 10:00 AM, Saturday, Jan 19, 2013 at the Rosedale Cemetery in Ada with Pastor Bill Leveridge officiating.
Hubert was born in the Dolberg community on Apr 24, 1928 to the late John Henry & Era Maude (King) Parkins. He died Thursday, Jan17, 2013 in Norman, at the age of 84 years 8 months and 23 days. Hubert and Helen Marie Farmer were married on Jul 25, 1945 in Ada. She preceded him in death on Jan 21, 2010. Others preceding him in death include four brothers, Raymond, Al & J.L. Parkins and Roy Williams.
Hubert spent some 35 years working for O.G. & E. At the time of his retirement, he was a Control Room Supervisor. Hubert was a devoted member of the Crossway First Baptist Church of Sulphur where he served as a deacon. Next to God, family was the most important thing in Hubert’s life. He loved his family dearly and cherished each opportunity that he found to be with them. In earlier years, Hubert enjoyed fishing and doing genealogy. He had a passion for working with a local Alzheimer’s support group and the Back Pack for Kids Project.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Joyce Slack & husband David of Edmond and Judy Lynne Parkins of Ada; three grandchildren, Jennifer Erin Slack, Stefany DanAnn Bowers & husband Joe David and Aylson Marie Slack; one great-grandson, Jed Wyatt Bowers; two brothers, Joe Parkins of California and John Parkins of Ardmore; as well as, close family friend, Chiquita Duncan of Ada.
