Ida Mae Stanford

Ida Mae Stanford was born May 3, 1942 in Madill, OK to the late Harold Raymon and Ninnie Mae (Root) Wright. She died Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in Sulphur, at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 10 days. Ida and Raymond M. Stanford were married on April 3, 1964 in Sulphur. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2003.

Ida grew up in the Sulphur area, graduating from Sulphur High School. She devoted her life to her family. She was a stay-at-home wife and mother, caring and providing the best homelife for her husband and three children. That love and care spilled over to her grandchildren and great-children as well. Ida was always on the go, tending to someone or something within her home and family.


Survivors include one daughter, Pamela M. Stanford of Sulphur; two sons, Willie Stanford of Sulphur and Louis Stanford of Hickory; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as two brothers, Raymon H. Wright and Jack Wright of Sulphur; and five sisters, Helen Hux of Davis, Lula Brewer of Ada, Doris Turner of Bethany, Martha Stacey of Roff and Lillie Henry of Davis.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ida was also preceded in death by one brother, Willie Lee Watterson.

Funeral services will be held 2:00PM, Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the Hale’s Memorial Chapel in Sulphur, with Brother Randall Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.

Services will be conducted following current COVID restrictions. Social distancing will be required, as well as the wearing of masks.
