Funeral Services for James Robyn Surface will be held 2:00PM, Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Chickasaw Trail Baptist Church with Pastor Bryan Hetherington officiating. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood.

James was born in Holdenville, OK, on Sept 28, 1933 to the late Oliver and Marian (White) Surface. He died Sunday, Oct 2, 2016 at the age of 83 years and 4 days. James and Vickie Gail Barnes were married on June 1, 2002 in Sulphur.

James grew up in the Wewoka area. At the age of 15 yrs. he joined the Army during the Korean conflict and was discharged a short time later after the Army discovered his age. James returned home and completed high school. Following his discharge, James spent 21 years working in quality control for Seagate, a data storage company till his retiring in 1999. He later worked in mental health for the Arbuckle Memorial Hospital and maintenance for the Chickasaw Nation. His hobbies included playing a guitar, hunting & fishing, motorcycles, tinkering with guns and being outdoors.

James is survived by his wife, Vickie of Sulphur; three sons, David Surface & wife Alieta of Fort Worth, TX, Shane Pennington & wife Cindy of Shawnee and Brian Adams of Providence, TX; a daughter, Jahna Buckaloo & husband Michael of Davis; one brother, Richard Surface & wife Martha of Colleen, TX; and eleven grandchildren.

James was also preceded in death by a brother, Oliver Ruptert Surface, Jr.
