Joann Gargis Gooch, 83, was born October 9, 1937 in Sulphur to the late Hubert and Eva (Roach) Price. She died on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at her home, south of Davis. She and Percy Jim Gargis were married on September 29, 1956 in Ardmore. He preceded her in death on August 31, 1988. Later, she married Charles Allen Gooch. He preceded her in death on December 28, 2007.

Joann grew up in Murray County, graduating from Sulphur High School. She spent 15+ years working as a certified nurses’ assistant for Gentiva and Medcore home health agencies, retiring in 2005.

Joann was a devoted mother and friend. She was known to be a very generous person. She loved her church and enjoyed helping where she could. Joann cherished her family, especially her brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her two daughters, Deborah Green and Betty Gargis, both of Davis; one brother, Robert Price; two sisters, Elizabeth McCracken and Eva Pearl Knighten, all of Sulphur; grandsons, Brandon Baldwin and Jimmy Baldwin, both of Davis; granddaughters, Michell Riggs of Pauls Valley and Kari Hayes of Sulphur; eight great-grandchildren, Ryan Sliger, Amy Sliger, Ely Hayes, Kedric Hayes, Kharma Feirmal, Avery Tucker, Braysen Baldwin and Jacob Baldwin; nephews, Kenneth McCracken and Jimmy Lee Dickerson; nieces, Vickey Skidmore, Robin Gray and Tammy Price, all of Sulphur; significant other, Jimmy Don Gilley of Davis; as well as her special friend, Christee Damron.

In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Lee Price and Hubert Price, Jr.; and one sister, Carmen Louise Maddox.

Private, graveside services, for family only, will be held at the Green Hill Cemetery, in Davis.
