Services for Katie were held 11:00 AM, Friday, February 21, 2014 at Hale’s Memorial Chapel in Davis with Father Rusty Hughes officiating. Interment followed at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
Katie was born at Devils Lake, North Dakota on August 28, 1928 to John and Caroline Schall. She passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the age of 85 years.
Katie grew up in the Devils Lake area and had fifteen brothers and sisters. She started working at the age of eleven on odd jobs cleaning house and babysitting for twenty-five cents an hour and at age fifteen she started working at the hospital for thirty-five dollars per month. When she was sixteen she went out for a hamburger and met Jerry Reynen and at eighteen she married the one and only love of her life on October 29, 1947.
Together they raised six wonderful children and taught them the value of hard work and being a family. They moved to Oklahoma in 1968 and settled in Davis. Katie was a stay at home mom and raised the family first. After all the children were grown, Katie started working at the Arbuckle Memorial Hospital and later at the Sulphur Veterans Center, where she retired after ten years of service. After Jerry passed away in 2003, Katie continued to form a strong family bond with all of her children. She enjoyed cooking daily lunches for the kids, laughing and enjoying each other’s company. Family gatherings including Christmas Eve were her favorite times of the year, when all the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren met at her house for food, fellowship and Dirty Santa. Katie loved playing cards with family and friends and did not like to lose. She was referred to by her grandchildren as “Gramma Katie”.
Survivors include her children, Corrine Snyder, Bob Reynen and wife Beverly, Kenny Reynen and wife Lynn, Richard Reynen and wife Kathy, Debbie Warden and husband David and Carol Gomez and husband Chuck; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as, three sisters, Veronica Leiphon, Eleanor Jacobs and Esther Mason.
She was preceded in death by husband Jerry Reynen, her parents, twelve brothers and sisters, son-in-law Allan Snyder, grandson Chad Reynen and great-granddaughter Desiree Snyder.
Pallbearers were Ricky Snyder, J.J. Snyder, Jesse Reynen, Aaron Thomas, David Warden, Bill Martin, Brad Bentley, John Heavner, Brandon Loyd, Jonathan Pearson and in spirit Chad Reynen.
