Lorraine Phillipa Mitchell

   Funeral services for Lorraine Phillipa Mitchell will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, December 12, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Davis, OK with Chaplain Tim O’Gwynn officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.

   Our beautiful Mother and Gammie, Lorraine Mitchell, passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 3, 2022, in the afternoon at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 3 days.

  Lorraine was born on February 6, 1932, in Kilgore, TX to Luther Phillip and Ida Gertrude Rushing. Lorraine had a hard start in life due to her having Rheumatic Fever at a very early age but soon overcame her medical problems. While going to school, Lorraine worked as a telephone operator and as a waitress. Later after marriage, she became a stay-at-home mom raising her 3 daughters. When all the girls were in school, Lorraine got her driver’s license, G.E.D. Diploma and proceeded with training to become a Nurse’s Aide and with additional training to disperse medications. Lorraine used this training to work at Arbuckle Memorial Hospital, local nursing facilities and the State School in Pauls Valley, OK. Lorraine loved to dance and would often be “cutting a rug” as she would say, which is energized dancing, when she was out on the dance floor. Lorraine loved her family and friends and never met a stranger. She loved it that the young and old, family and friends all called her Gammie.

   Lorraine had that special angelic touch and a way of making everything better. She was truly a treasure. Lorraine is and will always be in our heart and soul.

   Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Phyl Foster & husband Eulis, Lynn Reynen & husband Kenny, Lisa McCarty & friend, Larry Thompson. Grand Children: Christy Vineyard & husband Billy, Michael Summers & wife Sherry, Amber Bentley & Husband Brad, Blakely Newport & husband Ramey, Braden McCarty & wife, Presley. Great Grandchildren: Chris Vineyard & wife, Jourdan, Brittany Harjo & husband, Matt, Brittany Summers, Callee Graham, Cloee Graham, Carlee Summers, Loreal Reynen, Leah Cain, Chase Bentley & wife Angela, Adley Bentley, Gabe Bentley, Kaleb Newport, Kaden Newport & Savannah McCarty. Great, Great Grandchildren: Gracie Vineyard, Rylee Vineyard, Emily Harjo, Melany Harjo, Matti Harjo, Wyatt Harjo, Issac Lappin, Luca Torres and numerous nieces & nephews.

   In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her children’s father, Eunice Dean (ED) Huggins, Husband, Paul D. Mitchell, grandson, Chad Reynen, sister, Mary Ann Gilliland, one step-sister & three half-brothers.
