Margaret Kathleen "Kathy" Hector

Margaret Kathleen “Kathy” Hector was born on January 8, 1940 in Ashland, Nebraska. She died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. Her parents, Charles William Vosler and Evelyn Helen (Decker) Vosler and all her siblings preceded her in death. She was the youngest of eight children; one brother and six sisters. Her first two husbands preceded her in death; the first marriage ended in suicide, leaving her with a young son to raise. Her second marriage ended when her husband’s motorcycle collided with a telephone pole. She is survived by her husband E. Roy Hector of the home; one son Clair N. Daniels; two step sons, Ronald R. Hector and Douglas M Hector; and her grandson Robert Daniels and his wife Shana and their three children; plus many nephews and nieces. Kathy was a dedicated mother and wife; she was a loving and caring person who always sought to please and love everyone who entered her life. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and painting. Kathy had a great urge to be doing something productive. She loved animals and left behind her dachshund Baxter and her cat Blackie. In addition she always had two or three bird feeders hanging on the porch full of seed she had ordered from amazon.com

Kathy had been under treatment for COPD since 2003, requiring liquid oxygen twenty four hours each day. Then in May of last year she was diagnosed with the dreaded affliction of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (better known as ALS) a devastating illness with no known cure. In her last year on this earth, she fought the good fight against the horrors of COPD and ALS and through shear will power and determination managed to live a full year after being informed she had less than six months to live. She met her burdens head on and never flinched; she remained cheerful for the benefit of those around her and fought to the very end with dignity, class, grace, and good humor. She never gave up seeking the miracle that did not appear. Her determination and Christian beliefs prevailed even though she was under extreme pain and suffering. Her unparalleled efforts to live will stand forever in the hearts of those who loved her as a guiding light to be emulated. May she now rest in painless peace.
