Mary Evelyn Myers

April 13, 1931 — May 19, 2022

Mary Evelyn Myers, better known by many as Evelyn, was born April 13, 1931, in Bristow, OK, to the late Kenneth R. and Pearl L. (Archer) Hill. She passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022, in Norman, at the age of 91 years, 1 month and 6 days. Evelyn and George Leslie Myers were married in August of 1971, in Tulsa. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1987.

Evelyn grew up in the Bristow area, graduating from Beggs High School, Class of 1949. Following high school, she attended Draughon’s Business School in Tulsa, prior to moving to Oklahoma City, where she spent 20+ years working for the Crawford-Phillips Insurance Company. Later, Evelyn began working as a civil servant at the Tinker Air Force Base, retiring in 1995. In 2001, she moved to the Five Lakes area, south of Sulphur.

In younger years, Evelyn enjoyed square dancing, fishing, and traveling around the world. She enjoyed her frequent visits to area casinos, which very often proved to be successful when it came to winning. Although she was very close to her two daughters and three grandchildren, Evelyn was quick to let everyone know, her two great-grandchildren were truly the light of her life.

Survivors include her two daughters, Donna Box & husband Kenneth of Lake Jackson, TX, and Marilynne LiaBraaten of Norman; three granddaughters, Brittany Elliott & husband Scott Bryant, Shannon Toumbs & husband Ricky, and Sarah Box; as well as her two great-grandchildren, Lane and Ava Toumbs.

In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by one sister, Esther Mills and a very dear friend, Lee Roy Branson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Pets and People Humane Society in Yukon, OK.

Private services will be scheduled, in the near future.
