Ollie Parker Helms

Ollie Parker Helms, the youngest of six children was born on Sept 11, 1923 near Purcell, OK to the late Ira & Lena (Parker) Little. She passed away Wednesday, Dec 24, 2014 in Davis, at the age of 91.

While working for Douglas Aircraft during WWII, Ollie married Ralph M. Helms, on Jan 13, 1945 in Oklahoma City. After he was discharged from the Navy, they moved to Pauls Valley, where he was employed by the US Post Office. Together they owned and operated the A&W Drive Inn, Burger Haven Drive Inn and Helms Laundromat in Pauls Valley. After these businesses were sold, Ollie worked at the Pauls Valley State School until Ralph’s retirement from the Post Office in 1984, at which time they moved to the Lake Texoma area, where they lived until 2000 when Ralph’s failing health resulted in a move to Wynnewood to be near their daughter. Ollie had been a resident of Burford Manor in Davis since June 2013. Ralph & Ollie loved to travel and had been to 49 states and all provinces of Canada. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elmore City.

Ollie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; sister, Ola Wyatt; and brothers, J.W., Joe and Laurnce Little.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Campbell & husband Gary of Wynnewood and Karen McIntosh & husband Gary of Amarillo; one granddaughter, Rachel Carroll & husband Andy of Amarillo; one brother, Ira Little, Jr. & wife Aline of Ada.

Funeral services for Ollie were held 10:00, Saturday, Dec 27, 2014 at the Hale’s Memorial Chapel in Davis, with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr officiating. Interment followed at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood.
