Preach grew up in the Hennepin area and attended Woodland School, formerly known as Gooseneck. Early in his career, he worked as a dozer operator, building many of the highways associated with the Talimena Drive in eastern Oklahoma. He later spent 25+ years working as a pumper for Post Petroleum, retiring in the early 1990’s. Throughout his entire life, Preach farmed and raised cattle. He was an avid fisherman and “only” went fishing every chance he found. Often times you would find Preach fishing with Peggy by his side, crocheting. In his spare time Preach also enjoyed bee hunting and squirrel hunting in the Arbuckles and raising large gardens. Preach was a very devoted member of the Hennepin United Pentecostal Church, where he very frequently praised the Lord with his voice in music.

Survivors include one daughter, Wilma Poole & husband Lewis of Moore; two sons, David Carter & wife Betty of Graham and Donnie Carter & wife Lela of Moore; as well as, eight grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jaron, Kyndal, Preston & Keegan Poole and Dustin & Lee Carter.
