Raymond Howard Staggs

Graveside services for Raymond Howard Staggs will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, OK, with Pastors Alan McCoy and Mark Smith officiating.

Raymond was born March 3, 1931, east of Dibble, OK, to John Howard and Flora (Cooper) Staggs. He entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 27, 2021, in Norman, OK, at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 24 days. Raymond and the former Ms. Helen Vinson were married on April 21, 1953, in Oklahoma City. They were blessed with 67 years of marriage prior to Helen’s passing on June 18, 2020. From this union were born three children, Steve, Connie and Stan.

Raymond grew up in the Dibble area. He served in the United States Army from the spring of 1953 until he was Honorably discharged in 1955. Raymond spent 25 years working in maintenance, and any other areas needed, for the Dibble Public School System. In the earlier years of their marriage, Raymond served as a pastor, pastoring in several churches. He was also instrumental in forming the Midway Southern Baptist Church, where soon after opening, he became the pastor. In his spare time, he enjoyed tending to his farm, gardening, raising cattle and driving his tractor. Raymond loved his family, his church family and his friends. He will be deeply missed by them all.

Survivors include his three children, son, Steven R. Staggs & wife Robin, daughter, Connie F. Morris, and son, Stanley D. Staggs & wife Rhonda, all of Lindsay; six grandchildren, Brandon Conner & wife Jessica, Amy Keck & husband Casey, Stephanie Russell & husband Riley, Josh Staggs & wife Tami, Tony Staggs and Leslie Staggs; eight great-grandchildren, Jordan Clemmer & husband Zachary, Briar Conner, Laney Conner, Eli Conner, Hunter Russell, Hallee Russell and Axel Jones; one great-great granddaughter, Chloe Clemmer; one sister, Lola Mottinger; as well as numerous in-laws, nephews and nieces.

In addition to his wife, Raymond was preceded in death by four brothers, Troy Staggs, John “Red” Staggs, Talmadge “Tal” Staggs and infant brother, Donald Earl Staggs; one great-granddaughter, Ava Jade Welsh; and one niece Tamara “Jody” Mottinger.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Conner, Josh Staggs, Tony Staggs, Briar Conner, Casey Keck and Riley Russell.
