Rickey Dwayne Ruggs

Funeral services for Rickey DeWayne Ruggs will be held 1:00PM, Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Davis with Pastor Brad Pletcher officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.

Rickey was born August 3, 1949 in Sulphur, OK to William I. and Iva Nell (Hefley) Ruggs. He died Saturday, September 26, 2020 in Crescent, OK, at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 25 days.

Rickey grew up in Davis, graduating from Davis High School in 1967. After high school, he attended Vo-Tech for a short time before being drafted into the United States Air Force. Following his service to our country, he returned home and began working in the oil field in many places including the Arctic Circle. Later, in 1977, Rickey started the Ruggs Brother Construction Company, that is still operating today. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting snakes and buying and selling items. Rickey was an avid fan of OU Football. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Davis.

Survivors include his mother, Iva Nell (Hefley) Pletcher of Davis; one brother, David Ruggs of Davis; thirteen children, Frank Ruggs & wife Stacey of Florida, Clint Ruggs & wife Danita of Idaho, Wendy Stewart & husband Lonnie of Oklahoma, Kevin Ruggs & wife Shannon of Oklahoma, Matt Ruggs & wife Heather of Oklahoma, Rachel Shippy & husband Tom of Idaho, Amy Keith & husband Stanley of Oklahoma, Holly Shippy & husband Zane of Idaho, Lindsay Ruggs of North Dakota, Mitch Ruggs & wife Allison of Oklahoma, Iva Penner & husband Jeremy of Oklahoma, Jody Ruggs of Oklahoma and Rickey Ruggs of Idaho; son-in-law, Jake Shippy of Idaho; 64 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as several local aunts, uncles and cousins in the Hefley family.

Rickey was preceded in death by his father, William Ruggs; one daughter, Becky Shippy; and one brother, Randy Ruggs.
