Rodney Dewayne Trussell

Rodney DeWayne Trussell was born February 23, 1958 in Ardmore, OK to the late Louie Downey and Mary Ellen (Wilcoxson) Trussell. He died Wednesday, September 8, 2021 in Ardmore, at the age of 63 years, 7 months and 15 days. Rodney and Anna Christine “Chris” Woodell were married on February 24, 1984 in Sulphur.

Rodney grew up in Sulphur, graduating from Sulphur High School, Class of 1976. Following high school, he joined the United States Air Force, serving four years. Rodney’s working career began with several years in the oil field industry, prior to becoming employed with the Uniroyal Corporation in 1983, where he would spend the next 37 years of his career. In January, 2021, Rodney retired from Michelin, formerly Uniroyal, and immediately became employed as an EMT with the Murray County EMS.

In addition to his fulltime working career, Rodney spent several years with the Texas Motor Speedway, working as a fire chief on pit row, and also volunteered as a storm spotter with the Murray County EOC. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, shooting guns and motorcycles. Rodney also enjoyed being an amateur Ham Radio operator.

Survivors include his wife, Chris; son, Patrick Trussell & wife LeLe of Sulphur; daughter, Susanne Wawer of Germany; two grandchildren, Harlye and Kannon Trussell; two brothers, Joe Trussell & wife Diane of Kingston and Preston Preast & wife Tammy of Sulphur; four sisters, Zona Williams & husband Bobby of Ardmore, Marilyn Preast of Sulphur, Kathy Kinney of Oklahoma City and Agnes Fayard & husband Scott of Louisiana; as well as number nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by one brother, Louie Downey Trussell, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 6:00-8:00PM at the funeral home.
