Ruby Joyce Mccurry

Funeral services for Ruby Joyce McCurry will be held 1:00PM, Monday, April 17, 2017 at Hale’s Memorial Chapel in Davis with Brother Cougan Collins of the Lone Grove Church of Christ, officiating. A private interment will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 in Mountain Park, OK.

Joyce was born May 8, 1925 at Prairie Hill, OK to the late Osie & Elizabeth (Dodson) Chenault. She died Thursday, April 13, 2017, in Ardmore, at the age of 91 years. Joyce and Eldo “Mac” McCurry were married on August 7, 1969 in Las Vegas, NV. He preceded her in death on November 21, 2003.

Joyce grew up in the Prairie Hill / Altus area. She was the valedictorian of the 1942 senior class of Prairie Hill High School. Throughout most of her adult life, Joyce worked as an office manager & accountant for several businesses including the Arbuckle Master Conservancy District in Davis and the United Way Organization. She and Mac owned and operated the Tom Steed Bait Shop from 1988 until their retirement in 1996. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting; caring for her dogs and watching her grandchildren play sports. Joyce was a member of the Snyder Church of Christ for many years, prior to moving her membership to the Lone Grove Church of Christ.

Survivors include her daughter, Jaquetta (Archer) Narvaiz of Las Vegas, NV; two sons, Randy Archer & wife Wilda of Davis and Larry Archer & wife Debby of Lone Grove; six grandchildren, Kaye Winn, Dee Dee Snyder, Brad Archer, Brian Archer, Amy Archer-Hill, and Will Archer; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; as well as one sister, Irma Bryce & husband Warren of Altus.
