Funeral services for Vicki Lynn (Buffington) Parenti were held 2:00 PM, Monday, Nov 4, 2013 at the Midway Hill Baptist Church in Davis with Pastor Willard McCartney, JR. officiating. Interment followed in the Green Hill Cemetery.
Vicki was born on Sept 27, 1950 in Big Spring, TX to William Pete & Carra Mae (Hefley) Buffington. She died Friday, Nov 1, 2013 in Oklahoma City, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Vicki was 63 years 1 month and 4 days old. She and Donald Wayne Parenti were married on Apr 7, 1989 in Oklahoma City. He preceded her in death on Jun 26, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her father, Pete Buffington.
Vicki was a 1969 graduate of Davis High School. She spent several years working for Halliburton as a production clerk and scheduling. Later she moved to the Oklahoma City area where she worked as a telephone operator and receptionist for Fred Jones Manufacturing. In her spare time, she enjoyed embroidering, quilting and cooking. Her most favorite enjoyment was talking on the phone, which was evident in a continued busy signal received when trying to call her. Vicki was saved and baptized by Brother Finis Steelman in the First Baptist Church of Davis. She also attended the Freewill Baptist Church in Sulphur during the time Cotton McAffrey served as minister. Vicki was a member of the Red Hatters Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Kari Lynn (Standifer) HayWood & husband Herachio of Wendell, NC and Judy Le’Ann (Standifer) Knapp of Sulphur; one son, Jay W. Standifer & wife Karen of Sulphur; mother, Carra Mae Malicoat, nine grandchildren, Kanyon Cole Knapp, Kordd William Standifer, Brayden Shade Standifer, Rowdy Bronc Standifer, Jaylen Montez Haywood, Jaala Lynn Haywood, Caleb Duck, Brendon Franks and Alec Franks; sister, Donna D. (Buffington) Smith & husband Jackie of Sulphur; father of her children, Jim Standifer; as well as two best friends and caregivers, Donna Sue Gilstrap and Debbie Cannon.
Serving as pallbearers were Ricky Ruggs, Stan Hefley, Darrell Hefley, Verlin Hefley, Bobby Del Hefley and Eric Cannon. Honorary bearers were Ronnie Digby, Joe Cowan, Ricky Roady, David Orso, Daniel Pyle, Pete Holder and Dr. Sam Musallam.
