Victor Joe Willoughby went to be with the Lord on May 2, 2022, at his home in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, at the age of 73 years, 11 months, and 20 days.

Graveside services will be held on May 4, 2022, at 2:00 P.M., with interment to follow at the Byars Cemetery in Byars, Oklahoma.

Joe was born to Howard Victor and Juanita Ruth (Pierce) Willoughby on May 12, 1948, in Purcell, Oklahoma. He grew up in Wayne, Oklahoma and graduated from Wayne High School in 1966. He always said he had the best childhood he ever knew. Joe served his country as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, where he was an Aircraft Electrician, during the Vietnam Era. He was honorably discharged on March 5, 1971 and worked as a Carpenter. He met the love of his life, Patty Janelle Potts and they were married on April 19, 1977, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. He and Patty loved dancing, working in the yard together and he thanked God for her every day. He had a passion for the outdoors and nature and received his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from East Central University, in May of 1996. He loved black powder season, archery and fishing. He enjoyed teaching others to fish, but if you didn’t listen, you would be on a lifetime ban. He also used terms like chuck and wind and loved laughing and teasing with his kids and family. He loved his family and gave them a great life. He was such a positive role model for everyone.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother Paul Willoughby.

He is survived by his wife, Patty Potts of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; two daughters, Lisa (Willoughby) Goodner & husband Philip of Piedmont, Oklahoma, and Sarah (Willoughby) Carper & husband Jason of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one son, Preston Pierce Willoughby of Purcell, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Nicholas (Nick) Goodner, Matthew Carper, and Ella Carper. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Joe will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
