W.B. "Dubs" Driver

December 18, 1931 — March 7, 2021

W. B. “Dubs” Driver was born December 18, 1931 in Sulphur, Oklahoma to William Bewey Driver and Ona Bell Blackwell Driver. He graduated Wynnewood Highschool in 1948 and worked in the oil fields. He attended Oklahoma University before enlisting in the United States Navy. He served in the United State Navy from September 1951 to August 1955. During his service, Dubs was awarded the National Defense Medal, United Nations Medal, Korean Service Medal (2 stars), China Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He graduated East Central State University in 1958 with degrees in Mathematics and Physics. During his career, Dubs worked at National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Department of the Army, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and after retirement, worked as a consultant for E-Systems. He developed many patents for flexible drill piping and was always designing and creating new inventions in his workshop. His family and friends enjoyed listening to Dubs share his knowledge and experience. He will be profoundly missed.

Survivors include his sister, Patsy Faye Gray; his nephews, Jimmy Dan Palmer and partner Susan, Charles James “Chuck” West and wife Paige; his nieces, Betty Jo West, Patsy Jean (Jeanie) Jennings, Paula Sue Thomas and husband Bo, Jennifer Nicole and husband Tommy; his children: Kimberly Ann, Christopher Bewey and wife Tricia, and Suzanne Michelle and husband Olin; and his grandchildren: Megan, William (Liam), Olivia (Livi), Eryn, Faith, Ronan, and Cadance; and 18 great nieces and nephews.

Dubs was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Rose in 1951; father, William Bewey in 1985; his mother, Ona Bell in 1998; his nephew, Ron Eugene West in 2006; his nephew Roger Jennings in 2012; and his brother-in-law Paul Elton Gray, in 2017.

Graveside services, with military honors, will be held 2:00PM, Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur, with Chaplain Timothy Duncan officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Jennings, Josh Jennings, Crystal Ingram, Levi Thomas, Chuck West and Jimmy Palmer.

Services are entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home in Davis, Oklahoma.
