Wanda B. Burns

Wanda, known by family & friends as “Choppie”, was born Oct 27, 1927 in Hennepin, OK, to the late Elmer Jacks and Elsie Bellewood Dickerson. She died Saturday, Oct 31, 2015 in Sulphur, at the age of 88 years.

Wanda grew up in the Hennepin/Homer area where she graduated high school. Shortly after graduating, she moved to Plainview, TX where she married, raised her son and worked as a Sales Clerk in a department store. Later, she moved to Rockport, TX. Following the death of her husband, Thomas Vincent Burns in 2007, Wanda moved to Davis to be near family. She was a very classy lady and enjoyed her weekly hair appointment, as well as, her manicures. In her retirement years, Wanda enjoyed watching old western movies, no matter how many times she had seen them and an occasional trip to the casino.

She is survived by several cousins, including, Janice Rogers & husband Houston of Davis, Ray Jolly & wife Lalia of Wynnewood and Glen “Dub” Jolly & wife Martha of Alvin, TX; as well as, one step-son, Paul Thomas Burns.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; uncle, Earl Dickerson; aunt, Myrtle Jolly; first husband & father of her son, Jack Dunn; son, Jerry Dunn; second husband, Thomas Vincent Burns; step-son, Mike Burns; as well as cousins, Carlos Jolly & wife Lynda and Nina McDaniels.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Rogers, Mark Rogers, Jeff Rogers, Austin Rogers, Jerico Rogers and Steven Jolly.
