William T. Martin, Jr. (W T)
April 27, 1924 – December 25, 2012

W T, 88, of Davis, Oklahoma passed away at 7:00AM Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Baptist Village Nursing Home in Oklahoma City.

W T was born April 27, 1924 in Davis, Oklahoma to William Thomas Martin (Sr) and Carrie Martin. At a young age the Martin family moved from Davis to Reydon, Oklahoma where he attended school and graduated in 1942. W T lived in Reydon until WW II and was activated in the Army on August 12, 1943 and served as a B-24 gunner in 38 combat missions and was Honorably Discharged on Dec. 12, 1945.

W T married Betty Hooper (of Reydon, Oklahoma) in 1950 and moved to Chula Vista, California where he had two children, Dennis and Debbie. While in California he began his career as an aircraft machinist. His young family moved back to Davis in 1962 where he continued to work at Stromberg-Carlson in Gene Autry until his retirement in 1981. Thereafter, W T spent a good life, living with his older brother, Roy Martin, and youngest brother Billy Martin, playing golf, fishing and filling pages of crossword puzzles while laughing at the re-runs of American Funniest Videos, but his greatest love and activity was being PaPa to his grandchildren.

W T and Betty had two children, Dennis Craig Martin, who pre-deceased W T and Debbie Lynne (Martin) Stewart of Oklahoma City. W T had five grandchildren (Joe, Betsy, Natalie, Denni and Dallas, two step grandchildren (Donnie and Dwayna), six great-grandchildren, (Liliana Marie Lozza, Sydney Grace Lozza, Madelyn Angeline Davis Lozza), (Destiny Nichole Martin, Caden Daniel Craig Martin) and (Harvey W. Hunter); and many step-great-grandchildren.

W T (one of nine children all having predeceased) often spoke of his memories of those years in Reydon with his brothers and sisters playing, laughing, working and dragging Main St. of Reydon and other little bustling communities in western Oklahoma raising eyebrows driving beat-up frames of cars with wheels and engines. His fondest memories were of his quail hunts with family and friends and his trusty companion dogs. W T will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him and his memory will live on in the hearts and souls of his children and grandchildren.

The family will have gravesite memorial services at Green Hill Cemetery in Davis, Oklahoma 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013.
