Funeral services for Jeanne White were held 2:00 PM, Saturday, Mar 9, 2013 at the East Main Church of Christ in Davis with Brother Dwight Brown & Dwaine White officiating. Interment followed at the Green Hill Cemetery.

Jeanne was born Sept 2, 1933 in Sulphur, to the late Glenn & Bertha (Jones) Brooks. She died Tuesday, Mar 5, 2013 in Davis, at the age of 79 years 6 months and 3 days. Jeanne and Leslie Edward White were married on Apr 12, 1957 in Davis. He preceded her in death on Feb 5, 2005. Others preceding her in death include her parents; brother, Wayne Brooks and step-daughter, Carol Burgess.


After graduating from Sulphur High School in 1951, Jeanne attended Abilene Christian University prior to returning to Sulphur to work as an operator for the Sulphur Telephone Co. She later moved to Oklahoma City where she worked for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co as an operator. After she and Leslie married, Jeanne devoted her life to taking care of her children. Once her children were well established in school, she began working part-time as a store clerk for Zipp’s, Super “C” Mart, Sooner Foods Grocery, and most recently, Rose Grocery, all of Davis. Jeanne was a very devoted member of the East Main Church of Christ.

Survivors include daughter, Sandy Denise Holybee of Ardmore; son, David Russell White of Davis; three grandchildren, Nicholas and Jordan White and Ashley Strange; three step-grandchildren. Daniel, Angela & Terry Burgess; three great-grandchildren, Jennifer & Alexandra White and Harper Strange; two step-great grandchildren, Olivia Moreno and Alex Burgess; two brothers, Dr Lyle Brooks & Dr. Paul Brooks; as well as, numerous nieces & nephews.
