Funeral services for Annie Ruth Winters will be held 1:00PM, Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Davis, with Owen Mannin, Jeff Flowers & Clifton LaNoy officiating. Interment will follow at the Byars Cemetery.
Annie was born March 30, 1928 in Manchester, TN to the late Jarrett H. & Elsie (Medford) Gentry. She died Saturday, January 6, 2018 in Davis, at the age of 89 years, 10 months & 6 days. Annie and David Crockett Winters were married on December 11, 1946 in Harden City, OK. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2009.
Annie grew up in Galey, OK prior to moving to the Davis area at the age of 14. Following their marriage, Annie became a stay at home wife & mother. She loved to cook and sew. Annie had an indescribable love for children. Not only did she raise her own daughter Cathy, she opened her home up to numerous other children over the years, who lovingly called her “Mammy.” Annie cared for each of them, as if they were her own child. She was a faithful member of the Immanuel Baptist Church and a retired member of the OSU Extension Homemakers.
Survivors include one sister, Evanell (Gentry) McGee & husband Delbert; great nieces, Alexis, Aliyah & Aizyah Farmer; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, loving family and friends,
In addition to her parents and husband, Annie was preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy Winters; and six siblings, Dillard Gentry, D.L. Gentry, Vernon Gentry, Ivah (Gentry) Shadwick, Berthal Gentry & Cecilia (Gentry) Farmer.
The family will receive friends from 5-7PM, Wednesday evening, January 10, at Hale’s Funeral Home in Davis.
