Ben Gene Price was born on February 19, 1941 in Randlett, Oklahoma in the home of his mother, Minnie Maurice Johnson Price and father, Leo Quitman Price. He was welcomed by a two-year-old brother, Bob Allen Price.
Ben attended Lone Grove School District for 12 years. He excelled in academics and sports, lettering in basketball, baseball and football during his high school years and continued lifelong athletic pursuits such as running, marathons, triathlons, bodybuilding and tennis. After high school Ben began his college years at SE State College of Durant, then completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at Central State college in Edmond. He continued his education earning a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Oklahoma. He had a keen interest in history and constitutional law. Ben was also a proud Citizen of the Chickasaw Nation.
Ben had special interest in supporting children's causes, the Sierra Club, wildlife, volunteer activities, especially the Hutcherson Flying Queens Foundation and the building of the Flying Queens Museum depicting the history of women's college basketball.
In 1966, Ben joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at James Conley Air Force Base in Texas during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged and served in the National Guard.
Ben's most notable move was marrying the love of his life, Linda Joyce Pickens from the Woodland/Davis area in Oklahoma. First secretly, on May 3, 1968 and then again publicly on Sunday Dec. 22, 1968.
Ben began his career in Oklahoma, he started in the tax department of Peat Marwick and Mitchell during 1968 -1969. He started his private law practice in 1970 and continued throughout his lifetime until his death. Outside his private law practices, he was an Attorney for Legal Aid of Oklahoma.
After a few years, in 1972, Ben and Linda moved to New Orleans. Ben always supported Linda and was her biggest champion and encouraged her to pursue her career.
Ben entered the Oil and Gas Industry as a landman and legal representative for Signal Petroleum and retired in 1996 from the Oil and Gas Industry at Coastal Oil and Gas in Houston Texas.
After retiring from the Oil Industry, Ben was the President and CFO of the Pickens- Price Enterprises, Inc. Notably, Ben continued making legal contributions to other organizations, specifically the Flying Queens Foundation.
Ben and Linda moved from New Orleans, to Houston, to Galveston and back to Houston, Texas where Linda continues to reside.
After years of traveling throughout the US and abroad to many countries such as Mexico, Canada, Turkey, Africa, Brazil, Egypt, Italy, Greece, Romania, Serbia, Israel, and many more, taking nephews on ski trips, driving a 40' trailer pulled by a semi cab to the 1996 Olympics, traveling with Linda, family and friends, building relationships throughout the United States, taking cruises with family and friends Ben died at home surrounded by the love of family on July 19, 2025 and will be interred at Green Hills Cemetery in Davis, OK on July 26, 2025. Ben's love and friendships will be missed but remembered by all.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Linda of the home; brother Bob Price and wife Florence, of Little Rock, Arkansas; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Ben requested that in lieu of flowers that a contribution be made to the Hutcherson Flying Queens Endowment Trust, 15844 Ray Vista Street, Volente, Texas 78641. You can also go online to flyingqueensfoundation.com and contribute in memory of Ben Price.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Hale's Memorial Chapel, with Brother Randy Chapman officiating. Interment, with military honors by the Tinker Air Force, will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery, in Davis.
Services are "entrusted to" Hale's Funeral Home of Davis.
