Bennie Roy McGill

November 27, 1951 — November 26, 2025

Funeral services for Bennie Roy McGill will be held 1:00PM, Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Sulphur, with Pastor Dick Terry officiating. Interment will follow at the Dolberg Cemetery.

Bennie was born November 27, 1951, in Sulphur, to the late Carl and Evelyn (Storts) McGill. He died on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in Sulphur, just one day shy of seventy-four. Bennie and the former Ms. Rita Kay Adams were united in marriage on December 20, 1972, in Sulphur. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2016.

Bennie was lifelong resident of Sulphur. After graduating from Sulphur High School, class of 1971, he began working for OG&E as a lineman. After ten years with OG&E, he began what would be a 45+ year career in tire sales, working for Rockwall Retreads and SETCO (Southeastern Tire Company). In addition to his career in tire sales, Bennie also farmed and ranched throughout his adult life. In younger years, he worked as a reserve officer for the Murray County Sheriff's Department, as well as worked as a bouncer at the WH Corral and the Arbuckle Ballroom.

Family was foremost in Bennie's life. His love and support for his children and grandchildren were unwavering. He attended every activity he could when his family was involved, especially when it came to his four grandchildren.

Bennie McGill never met a stranger. He could and would talk to anyone about anything. He always said what he thought and did what he said. He was one that believed a handshake sealed a deal and a man's word was his bond. Known to be a bit on the ornery side, Bennie was always up for a good joke. His laugh was loud and contagious. By the time he left the room, everyone was laughing, sometimes with him and sometimes at him. Either way, he achieved his goal.

Bennie, along with his brother Jimmy, were known far and wide for their barbequing and homemade ice cream. They were always ready to drag a smoker anywhere and cook for crowds, no matter how big or small they were. Bennie was a very dedicated member of the Murray County Antique Tractor and Implement Club. He and Rita were part of the founding members and worked tirelessly to keep the club going.

Bennie believed in hard work and never backed down from a hard day's labor. That was simply how he was raised and who he was. Most people have some type of hobby, Bennie's was working, unless he was having coffee with his friends.

Survivors include his daughter, Kerrie Stanley & husband Lanny of Pauls Valley; his son, Mitch McGill & wife Jill of Sulphur; his four grandsons, Logan & Ledger Stanley, and Ben & Nick McGill; one sister, Judy McGill of Sulphur; one brother, Bobby McGill & wife Nancy of Davis; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents and loving wife, Bennie was preceded in death by his twin brother, Jimmy Ray McGill.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00PM, Monday evening at the funeral home.
