Billy Dean "Bill" Johnson was born April 28, 1938, in Nashoba, OK, to the late William Henry & Gertie (Sanders) Johnson. He died Sunday, July 6, 2025, in Hennepin, at the of age 87. He and Thelma Diana (Garner) Brassfield were united in marriage on October 30, 1992, in Oklahoma City. She preceded him in death on August 26, 2021.
Bill grew up in Nashoba. In his teens, he and his family moved to California where he worked in the vineyards. In 1961, he returned to Oklahoma, working for Michelin Tires in Oklahoma City. Later, he and his brother owned and operated a concrete construction company prior to working several years for Haliburton. In 1980, Bill began a career as a truck driver, working for several different trucking companies, semi-retiring in 2008. After moving to Hennepin, he worked part-time for Chris Foster Trucking before his final retirement in 2012.
Bill was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished spending time with his family. He was an avid fan of old Western movies. In younger years, Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include three children, Howard Johnson & wife Sandy, Phillip Johnson & wife Deana, and Rhonda Swann, all of Oklahoma City; step-son, Alex Brassfield & wife Kelli of Hennepin; two brothers, Jimmy Johnson & wife Wilma and Freddy Johnson & wife Anna; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by two sons, Lee Johnson, and David Johnson; and siblings Wanda Jean Johnson, Shirley Henley, Paul Johnson, Frankie Johnson, Bobby Johnson, William Johnson, JR, and Billy Wayne Johnson.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the Hennepin Cemetery, with Pastor Roger Sims officiating.
Services are "entrusted to" Hale's Funeral Home of Davis.
