Clarence Wayne Carlton

Wayne was born Sept 1, 1927 in Marked Tree, AR. He died Wednesday, Mar 19, 2014 in Davis, at the age of 86 years 6 months and 18 days. Wayne and Joan O. Ryland were married on May 19, 1962 in Crescent. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2008.

Wayne grew up in Marked Tree, AR where he graduated from high school in 1945. He served in the US Navy during the end of WWII as a Financial Officer and was later drafted by the Navy to serve during the Korean Conflict. After his service to our country, Wayne attended the University of Denver, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance. After college, Wayne embarked on a life-long career in banking. His career started with employment with the FDIC, working as an Examiner. He later held the position of CEO and President for several banks throughout the US, including banks in Midwest City, OK, Miami, FL, Columbia, MO, St Louis, MO, Hannibal, MO and finally the First National Bank of Davis. In 1989 Wayne officially retired from the banking industry, only to begin The Carlton Company in 1991. From 1991 until 2006, Wayne, along with his son, Allen, did public accounting and tax returns for many local individuals and businesses. Wayne was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Davis, as well as the Davis Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include one daughter, Anita Nickels & husband Clark; son, Allen Carlton; two granddaughters, Andrea & Amanda Nickels; and one grandson, Randon Nickels, all of Norman.

Along with his beloved wife, Wayne was preceded in death by his mother, Nellie McKimpson; sister, Dorothy Powell; and his aunt, Myrtle Hamm
