Danny Lee Johnson

July 10, 1957 — August 3, 2023

Danny Lee “Hillbilly” Johnson, of Davis, OK, was called home to the Lord on Thursday, August 3, 2023, with his partner Valerie, whom he continually referred to as his “illegal wife”, by his side.

Danny, the son of Ronald “Red” Johnson & Barbara L. Johnson, Winnebago, MN, was born on July 10, 1957, and grew up in Delavan/Winnebago area. He was a 1975 graduate of Winnebago High School.

Danny started his trucking career immediately, hauling cattle with his dad and then hauling a little grain and moved onto van/refrigerated goods. He loved hauling, for years, produce and shrimp out of the Texas valley to everywhere and seeing the land. Danny put millions of miles on his trucks, himself, and phone time. He loved his Harley’s and reached his goal of riding to the Sturgis Rally thirty years in a row. He always knew the best routes to take and places to eat while traveling. He was never at a loss for conversation.

Danny married Patricia Strauser in June 1979 and later divorced in 1996. From this marriage was born a son Todd, and a daughter Jennifer. He then moved to Davis, Oklahoma to be more centrally located with his work. There he met his life partner of 13 years, Valerie Spiegle.

Danny was a very proud, generous, humorous, and humble man. He will be missed deeply!

Survivors include his beloved partner Valerie and her son Josh of Davis, OK.; two brothers Craig Johnson (Barb) and Rick Johnson (Jo), both of Winnebago; one sister Rhonda Johnson, also of Winnebago; his son Todd Johnson of Springfield, MN; his daughter Jennifer Smothers, Mankato, MN, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Danny was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, and two nephews.

Information regarding A Celebration on Life, in both Oklahoma and Minnesota, for all who knew Danny, will be provided at a later date.

Cremation was “entrusted to” HALE’S FUNERAL HOME, DAVIS.
