Delores Gail Crockett

October 13, 1945 — March 13, 2017

Delores Gail Crockett, age 71, died of breast cancer on March 9th, 2017 in Sulphur, Oklahoma. She was born in 1945 to Edith and George Crockett in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of five children and raised in downtown Oklahoma City. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1963 and was married the same year. She had three children and was a full-time housewife and mother. She started taking part-time college courses in 1983 and she eventually obtained a B.A. in Family Studies and Gerontology from Southern Nazarene University in 1995. She found her calling through social work with disadvantaged women through agencies such as Travelers Aid and City Care/Pershing Center. She retired from her career to become a full-time grandmother. Her grandchildren were the greatest joys of her life. Delores will always be remembered as a woman of great faith in the teachings of Jesus Christ. She was kind, compassionate, generous and humble. She will forever be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings Joy, George, and Helen and nephews David Perry and Daniel Perry. She is survived by her sister Cordelia Crockett and her children; Brian Herndon and wife Sally, Deena Lemons and husband Tom, Keli Williams and husband Tracy. Her dearly beloved grandchildren; are Ryan May, Amanda Herndon, Raleigh Lemons, Alivia Williams, Madison Herndon, Megan Herndon, Allayna Williams, and Sophia Herndon (Sanchez). She is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 2:00 on Friday, March 17th at Resthaven Memorial Gardens (Masonic Garden) 500 S.W. 104th St. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73139. Her nephew Reverend Randy Whitlow will be officiating.
