Edward Ernest Gallegos, born July 17, 1961, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, passed away on March 20, 2026, in Sulphur, Oklahoma. A man of quiet strength and deep affection, Edward will be remembered for his soft-spoken nature and profound love for his family.
Edward married the love of his life, the former Ms. Bernadette Rita Valdez Gonzales, on December 10, 1994. She preceded him in death on March 18, 2025.
Edward's life journey was marked by dedication and service. He honorably retired from the Army National Guards, where he applied his skilled hands as a welder. This role not only highlighted his technical expertise but also his commitment to his country.
Edward is survived by daughter, Katrina McKay & husband Robert of Kansas; son, Chris Cruz of Ada; stepsons, Adam Gonzales & wife Tiffany of Sulphur, and Russell Gonzales & wife Ashley of Tulsa, and his grandchildren: Evan, Sarah, Shelby, Kenai, Kehlani, Naomi, Larissa and Adrian; as well as three sisters, Rosie Gallegos, Mary Jane Morris and Marianita Morris; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Salazar and Celia Gallegos; his foster parents, Ralph & Toni Martinez; an infant daughter, Christina Gallegos; and siblings, Dorothy, Carmen, Theresa and Johnnie Gallegos.
Cremation was "entrusted" to Hale's Funeral Home of Sulphur.
