Funeral services Evelyn Rose Hays will be held at 10:00AM, on Friday, September 16, 2022, at the Hale’s Memorial Chapel in Sulphur, with Pastor Dick Terry officiating.

Evelyn was born September 29, 1951, in New Braunfels, TX to the late Wayne and Rose (Melton) Carlton. She died on Sunday, September 11, 2022, in Sulphur, just 18 days shy of 71 years old.

Evelyn grew up in Tyler, TX, prior to moving to the Wynnewood area at the age of 15. She spent several years working at the Southern Oklahoma Resource Center in Pauls Valley and Sunshine Industries of Ardmore. Evelyn had a passion for caring for those with special needs. Anything she could do to brighten their day brought her great peace and happiness. Prior to retirement, Evelyn managed the Davis and Wynnewood EZ-Mart Stores.

Aside from her children and grandchildren, one of Evelyn’s greatest accomplishments in life receiving her GED in 1996. She loved playing video games, especially Mario. Often her games would lead her to verbally abusing Mario when he did not cooperate with her. Evelyn cherished her family and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. She had a great love for dogs and went to great lengths to care for them.

Survivors include three children, Linda Hays & wife Missy of Lone Grove, Donna Kirk & husband Steven of Sulphur, and Donald Hays of Ardmore; nine grandchildren, Dakota Owens, Shelbie Orso, Jonathan Kirk, Zakery Kirk, Sabrina Dalley, Aidan Dalley, Elijah Hays, Emily Hays, and Mr. Mann; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Tate of Waco, TX, and Joyce Barrett of Tyler, TX.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by one brother, Hoyt Carlton.

Services are entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur.
