Services for Gerald Ray Potts will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the Hale’s Memorial Chapel in Davis. Burial will follow at the Elmore City Cemetery.
Gerald was born May 8, 1941 in Chandler, OK to the late Jewell Leo and Fanjo (Warren) Potts. He died Saturday, January 12, 2019 in Sulphur, at the age of 77. In 1993, Gerald and the former Ms. Glores June Henry were married in Elmore City. She preceded him in death on January 1, 2007.
Gerald grew up in the Stephens/Garvin County area. Following his 1958 graduation from Elmore City High School, he attended Barber College. Gerald spent several years working as a truck driver in the oil field and raising cattle. In 2000, he and Glores moved to Davis where he worked for the Hanover Company. He later was employed by the City of Davis, overseeing the landfill. In his spare time, Gerald enjoyed fishing and visiting with friends at the local coffee shops and the Davis Senior Citizen Center.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald Potts, Jr of Pauls Valley and Billy Potts & wife Eloisa of Choctaw; one brother, Joe Potts & wife Marquita of Texas; as well as five grandchildren, Christy Scott & husband Adam, Sheena Prince & husband Nathan, Ashley Potts, Samuel Potts and Dana Selby & husband Joshua; and four great-grandchildren, Sazsha Scott, Steven Scott, Hadlee Selby and Evan Selby.
In addition to his parents and wife, Gerald was preceded in death by one sister, Loretta Jewel Potts and two brothers, Emory and Phillip Potts.
