Gary Lee Campbell

Gary Lee Campbell was born to Harrel Emitt and Carrie Charlene (Peery) Campbell in Niles, CA, Almeda County on April 4, 1943. He passed from this life on January 21, 2026. At the age of 2 years his parents returned to Wynnewood, OK., where he attended school and lived most of his life in that area.

After high school he began working at Kerr-McGee Refinery in Wynnewood and worked there for 41 years as a proud member of Internation Union Operating Engineers, Local 351, up until his retirement.

Gary loved people and always made it a point to say "Hello" to those he knew and many he did not. He never met a stranger and liked to joke and kid around. The more someone kidded with him the more he liked them. He really got a kick out of dressing up as Santa for his grandkids.

Gary was an avid bicyclist in his younger years. He often rode his bicycle from Davis to the Refinery in Wynnewood. Once he rode to Lake Texoma and back from Davis. He enjoyed walking the trails in the Chickasaw National Park or driving through it to count the deer. He enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting, and rattlesnake hunting in his younger years.

Gary was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Davis. Before his illness he made a point to read his Bible every morning and to pray daily for friends and family.

Gary Lee and Sharon Kay (Helmes) Sanford were married on October 19,1990 at the Ada Courthouse. Gary always thanked Jana (Pullen) Hickman because she had introduced him to Sharon in 1983.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Donald Gene Campbell, Harold Edward (Eddie) Campbell, and Leonard Jessie Campbell.

Gary is survived by his wife, Sharon Kay Campbell of Sulphur; sons, Carey and Perry Campbell of Ardmore, Gary Lee Campbell ll and wife, Lana Campbell of Sulphur, Elva Richard Campbell and wife, Misty Campbell of Sulphur; grandchildren, Dylan and Colton of Ardmore, Christopher and Shani Campbell of

Davis; great grandchildren, McCrae Richard Campbell and Jacklinn Sadler; and step grandchildren, Mason Stearns, Jayden and Madelyn McClure.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Davis, OK, with Brother Tony Randol officiating, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 2pm. Burial will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood, OK.
