James Glen Horton was born May 20, 1966 in Perryton, TX to L.P. “Cotton” & Janet C. (Casey) Horton. He died Tuesday, April 27, 2021 in Amarillo, TX, at the age of 54.
James grew up in Wheeler, TX, attending Wheeler High School. He spent most of his working career as a Driller in the Oil and Gas Industry. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, as well as fishing. James was a lifetime fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He was known to be the comedian of the Horton family. He was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Wheeler. James will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his mother, Janet McClellan of Wheeler; five children, Sierra Atherton of Amarillo, James Horton, II of Pittsburgh, TX, Joseph Horton of Lubbock, TX, Reanne Garcia of Pittsburgh, TX and Rainey Whitt of Clifton, TX; one sister, Kimla Casey & husband John of Canon City, CO; two brothers, Don Horton & wife Valerie of Amarillo and Darryl Horton & wife Zonia of Pampa, TX; as well as 12 grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
James was preceded in death by his father, Cotton Horton; and one brother, Gary Dale Horton.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at the Hennepin Cemetery in Hennepin, OK, with Erron Mercer officiating. A private celebration of life for James, will be held on Saturday.
