He passed from this life on Monday, June 1, 2026, in Sulphur, at the age of seventy-seven. Jim and the former Ms. Kathy Jean Scaia were united in marriage on May 27, 1974, in Hennessey, OK. This union was blessed with two children, Christina and Timothy.
Jim was nothing less than a servant to our great country. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy serving from September 1967 until April of 1974. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy, Jim joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard, serving with the 1120th Maintenance Company, becoming a military electronic technician at the CSMS in Norman. His dedicated service ended in November 2006 upon his retirement.
His Navy service included basic training in San Diego, then being sent Memphis, TN. While in Memphis, Jim experienced history being present at the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King. His further naval adventures took him completely up and down the eastern coast prior to being stationed in Jacksonville, FL. From Florida, he went to Corpus Christi, TX where he was later discharged.
While serving with the Oklahoma Army National Guard, he was deployed to Ft. Irwin with the 1120th during Desert Storm. He then transferred to the 700SPT to assist with the May 3rd, 1999, tornado that devastated Moore and Dell City, OK. Jim later transferred back to the 1120th where he was activated once again for Operation Noble Eagle, prior to his November 2006 retirement.
In addition to his honorable service to our country, Jim loved playing softball and golf. He also greatly enjoyed his grandchildren and looked forward to family gatherings.
