Funeral services for Janice Alene Taliaferro will be held 11:00 A.M, Wednesday, Sept 5, 2012 at the Midway Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
Janice was born Nov 18, 1942 in Elk City, OK to the late Marion & Alpha (Cantrell) Pruitt. She died Monday, Sept 3, 2012 in Davis, at the age of 69 years 9 months and 15 days. Janice & John Curtis “JC” Taliaferro were married on Oct 9, 1959 in Elk City. He preceded her in death on Mar 13, 2005.
Janice was a hard working lady with a very strong character. She spent the early days of her married life raising her family and providing a good home for them. After the kids were grown, Janice worked at the Southern Oklahoma Resource Center in Pauls Valley and the Burford Manor Nursing Home in Davis as a Certified Nurses Aide. In the most recent years, she worked as a private in-home caregiver to several people in the Davis area. Some of her enjoyments included cooking, reading, playing bingo and of course, being with her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Tina Wells of Ada; two sons, James Taliaferro & wife Shannon and M.C. Taliaferro & wife Jana, both of Davis; four grandchildren, Shawna Lancaster, Levi Wells and Chase & Logan Taliaferro; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jody Pruitt & wife Debra of Newalla, OK and Muriel Pruitt & wife June of Elk City; and two sisters, Ranae Matthis & husband Rick of Pine, CO and Pat Leming & husband Norm of Marysville, CA
Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry & Kevin Birch, Sammie & Cavin Jones, Virgil Betterton and David Woods.
