J.C. Buddy Jones

March 19, 1931 — April 28, 2017

Funeral services for J.C. “Buddy” Jones will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Davis with his nephew, Mick Cowan and Pastor Johnny Tonihka officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
Buddy was born March 19, 1931 in County Line, OK to the late Louie Calvin & Jeffie (Gibson) Jones. He died Friday, April 28, 2017 in Davis at the age of 86 years 1 month and 8 days. Buddy and the former Ms. Helen Ruth Green were married on May 22, 1952 in Davis. She preceded him in death on Nov 25, 2011
Buddy grew up in the County Line area and was a 1949 graduate of Fox High School. Following graduation, he worked in the oil field for a few years before being drafted into the United States Army in 1952, serving during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge from the Army in 1954, Buddy returned to the oil field industry. Throughout his 34 year career in the oil field industry, Buddy and Helen lived in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado and Wyoming. Following his retirement in 1989, they moved to Davis to be near family.
During his retirement, Buddy enjoyed tending to his yard and most of all, playing golf with his buddies. He played well over 100 different golf courses. Buddy was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Davis, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was always willing to assist with any ministry of the church. Not only was he a devoted Christian, Buddy was a devoted family man. He cherished his wife, children and grandchildren; and was extremely proud of each of them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Buddy is survived by his daughter, Jill (Jones) Hall & husband Jeremy of Sulphur; one son, Jeff Jones & wife Sandy of McAlester; five grandchildren, Jody Gaddy, Courtney Bruecher, Gary Jones, Jessica Kitchens and Kelsey Ratcliff; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Buddy was preceded in death by four sisters, Frankie Presgrove, Fern Evans, Ethel Cowan & Yvonne Harris; as well as one brother, Lewis Raymond Jones.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Burford Manor Nursing Home activity fund, the First Baptist Church of Davis, or any other charity of choice.
