Jerry Don Hefley

December 26, 1935 — May 17, 2026

Jerry Don Hefley was born on December 26, 1935, in Loco, OK, to the late James Thomas "Jim" & Mamie Lee (Howard) Hefley. He passed from this life on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Davis, at the age of 90 years. He was the last surviving child of Jim and Mamie. Jerry Don married the former Ms. Donna Burnside on March 23, 1963. To this union were born three children, Bobby Del, Suzanne, and Jeana.

Shortly after his birth, the family moved from Loco, OK to Woodville, OK during the building of Lake Texoma. They later moved to Wynnewood View where they did sharecrop of cotton and broom corn. In 1947, the Hefley Family settled in Davis. Jerry Don attended Davis Public Schools from the age of eleven until graduating high school in May of 1955. Following high school, he immediately gained employment in the oil field industry. After several years he left the oil field and began dairy farming with his brothers, prior to going to work for Uniroyal Tire Manufacturing in Ardmore. Following his retirement from Uniroyal in 1999, Jerry Don worked briefly for the City of Davis at the local waste management sight.

Jerry Don had several hobbies which he genuinely loved. For many years he, along with his brother "Son" and nephew Oscar owned Hefley Brothers Blueticks. They raised coon dogs as well as spent countless hours and steps coon hunting together. Jerry Don also enjoyed every aspect of fishing, whether it was noodling, throw lines, snagging, rod and real, he was not choosy. He was always ready to go fishing and for the most part, his years of fishing were within the law, for most part anyway.

Jerry Don, just like the other Hefley's, was an avid fan of Davis Wolves Sports. His most favorite sport was softball. While working at Uniroyal, he was the most sought-after pitcher for their annual tournaments. Jerry Don coached Jeana and her little league teams until she was in high school. He later helped Jeana coach his granddaughter in her little league softball playing.

Jerry Don is survived by his son, Bobby Del Hefley; his daughter, Jeana Smith and husband Justin; four grandchildren, Ashton Ingram, Dalton Ingram & wife Paige, Hunter Smith and Fisher Smith; two great-grandchildren, Daxton Love and Lynlee Ingram; his love, Donna; as well as a host of nieces and nephews; including his nephew Stan Hefley, whom the family wishes to thank for all your help during dad's final days. You are a God send for sure.

In addition to his parents, Jerry Don was preceded in death by one daughter, Suzanne; as well as all of his beloved siblings: six sisters, Donna Dimple Buffington, Mary Norwood, Dorothy Timmons, Iva Nell Ruggs-Pletcher, Delma Ann Wilson, & Carra Mae Malicoat; and five brothers, Howard, Robert, R.L., Joe Bill and James Hefley, Jr; as well as his second wife, Dorothy Lee (Beck) Hefley
