Judith Ann “Judy” Webb, was born Jan. 25, 1946, in Staten Island, N.Y. to the late Bill L. Watts and Etolia E. (May) Watts. She passed away Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, surrounded by her children at 77 years and 10 months old.
Judy grew up in Blackwell with one brother, Larry, who preceded her in death earlier this year on Feb. 16, 2023.
Later moving to southern Oklahoma, Judy met and married Melvin Webb. Becoming an instant bonus mom to Susie, Gene, Randy and the late Mark Webb. She and Melvin had three children of their own: Alisha, Melanie and Colt.
Judy worked for Stromberg Carlson in Ardmore before going to East Central and Murray State College to obtain an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood. The majority of Judy’s career was spent as a preschool teacher with Inca Head Start.
Be it her own kids or a classroom full of preschoolers, she was a teacher. Judy worked to make each lesson memorable and the classroom fun. Cheering when a student learned something new or saddened when they were sick or grieving, she left her heart with “her kids.” Always know this, once you made it to her classroom, you were her “kid” forever.
She was a force to be reckoned with. Some have called her a spitfire for her quick wit, others use the word ‘spunky’ to describe her personality but determined is word that best describes Judy.
Judy was determined to let you know she was there for you.
She was there to help, there to listen or honestly, just determined to let you know she was part of your world for the time being. Refusing to leave until she knew you were better. All the while, driving home the fact that people knew they weren’t alone and wouldn’t ever be alone as long as she was there.
She was determined to leave you happy. She could make miracles happen in the kitchen with a bare pantry. Judy was not happy unless your plate was clean and you had a smile on your face after she made a meal. Want to know what made her the happiest? When you offered to do the dishes before she gave you marching orders to the kitchen sink.
Judy was happy surrounded by her family. She loved her children immensely and her grandchildren knew a love that Judy said at one time she didn’t even know she had in her. She was proud of her family and took every opportunity to brag on them.
Judy loved reading, crime shows, dogs and horses and her church family at Cornerstone Church of Christ. She loved Jesus and learning more about Him. She was determined to show God’s love. Judy was deeply loved and will be missed by many.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, brother and husband, Melvin Webb.
She is survived by her children: Alisha Thompson, and husband Tim and Colt and Cassandra Webb; all of Davis and Melanie Serage of Missouri; step-children: Randy and wife, Stephanie Webb of Ardmore and family; Gene and wife Dee Webb of Henderson, Texas and family; and Susie Webb of Wewoka; grandchildren: Lilli, Daisy, Kane, Lola, Roxy, Alayna and Jace; and sister-in-law, Terri Watts.
