Larry Wayne Smith

Larry was born Feb 9, 1948 in Wynnewood to the late Fred Lewis & Bessie Naomi (Shorter) Smith. He died Friday, Dec 11, 2015 in Sulphur, at the age 67 years 10 months and 2 days.

Larry spent his childhood years in Iowa Park, TX prior to moving to Ardmore. Through out his teen & early adult life, he resided in several other areas, due to working housing construction with his dad. He spent some time traveling with his uncle Vernon, a cross country truck driver, as well. Larry was most known for being a leather smith, owning a boot shop in Wewoka and most recently, owning & operating Dye’s Boot Shop, south of Davis. In his spare time, he traveled around team roping, a sport that was near & dear to his heart. Larry also enjoyed spending time at area coffee shop and restaurant, “shoot’n the bull” with his friends.

Survivors include his daughter, Kendra Gibson & husband William of Russett; son, Kevin Smith of Sulphur; four grandchildren, Shianne Smith, Shania Gibson, Pepper Gibson and Jake Smith; one great-granddaughter, Haven Jones; the love of his life. Karen Robbinson; as well as two sisters, Betty Merritt of New Mexico and Carolyn Cobb of Davis; and one brother, Donald Lewis & wife Jean of Vernon, TX.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill & Jack Smith.
